Embodiment is the state of feeling deeply connected and in tune with your body and senses.

We navigate and experience the world through our bodies without much awareness that we’re even doing that. Most of us don’t have a daily practice of coming home to our bodies. It is often only when we feel tension or pain that we pause to pay attention to our bodies. Embodiment is learning to feel and sense our bodies. It entails quieting the constant mental chatter and experiencing the body through direct, mindful presence. By cultivating a profound awareness of our bodies, we tap into a source of wisdom and intuition that lies dormant within us. This practice allows us to navigate life with greater clarity, fostering a deeper understanding of ourselves and our experiences.

Founder of Embodied Wellness Center

Hi, I'm Stephanie!

I started Embodied Wellness Center because of my own frustrations with the way our healthcare system handles mental and physical health difficulties. When I was seeking treatment for a spinal injury, I felt exhausted trying to relay information from one specialist to another, with each provider only addressing one part of the problem. Meanwhile, I was grappling with mental health difficulties that were a direct result of my injuries, a struggle I still deal with as I live with chronic pain. This inspired me to find a better way to treat both physical and mental health together.

Following my spinal injury, I turned to yoga because it was one of the few physical activities I could engage in given my physical limitations. Through my yoga practice, I gained so much more than a physical exercise, especially for my mental health. My own healing journey led me to create Embodied Wellness Center, a place where physical and mental health are integrated and treated as one.

At Embodied Wellness Center, we focus on wellness rather than illness.

Traditional mental health treatment focuses on assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. Holistic psychotherapy focuses on treating the whole person rather than an illness or a specific symptom he or she may be experiencing. Our sessions may explore various aspects of your life, including social relationships, habits, sleep patterns, diet and exercise, work/life balance, and living situation to help us gain a fuller understanding of your experiences and concerns. Additionally, we may combine traditional talk therapy with techniques like mindfulness, somatic therapy, or EMDR. Through this multifaceted approach, we will help you create balance, resilience, and well-being, rather than simply alleviating symptoms.

Caring for mental health means advocating for better policies and access to care, but it also means tending to our own wellbeing. When we take care of ourselves, the ripple effect can create positive change around us.

Relationships aren’t perfect, and neither are we. Some issues pop up over and over again, and research shows that about 69% of relationship problems are perpetual. The goal isn’t to “fix” everything—it’s to learn how to manage conflicts in a way that strengthens your connection instead of creating distance. 69% of relationship problems can't be solved. Instead, they must be managed. The question isn't "can we fix this?" but rather "can I live with this set of problems?" For more, click the link in our bio to read the latest blog post, "How to Handle Disagreements Without Ruining Your Relationship"
