We live in a disembodied culture. In the whirlwind of our busy lives, many of us feel chronically stressed and anxious. To satisfy our short attention spans and avoid boredom, we habitually fill every free space with distractions or consumption, seldom taking time to acknowledge our reactions to what we’re consuming.
Most of us don’t have a daily practice of coming home to our bodies. We navigate and experience the world through our bodies without much awareness that we’re even doing that. It is often only when tension or pain erupts that we pause to pay attention to our bodies. Embodiment is learning to feel and sense our bodies. It entails relinquishing the constant mental chatter and experiencing the body through direct, mindful presence. By cultivating a profound awareness of our bodies, we tap into a source of wisdom and intuition that lies dormant within us. This practice allows us to navigate life with greater clarity, fostering a deeper understanding of ourselves and our experiences.
