Fresh Starts: Navigating Spring's Season of Rebirth

Spring is a time of renewal and rejuvenation. As the snow melts away and the air warms up, the world awakens from its winter slumber. Trees bud, flowers bloom, and the earth comes back to life. It’s a season of rebirth, where everything is given a fresh start and a chance to grow anew. In this season, the invitation is to observe the areas where you’ve grown stagnant and resistant. Where can you find the courage to face your fears head-on? Where can you find a fresh perspective in an area where you feel stuck?

Today is a new day, so I will let go of fear and embrace new beginnings.

Here are some tools you can use to rebuild and rejuvenate yourself:
1. Spend time outdoors.
Spring is such a beautiful season, with the flowers blooming, the birds chirping, and the warm sunshine glowing. Go for a walk, take a hike, start a garden, or simply sit on a park bench and observe what’s happening around you. Spending time outdoors supports mental wellness and provides a natural boost to your mood and overall well-being.
2. Clean and declutter.
Spring cleaning isn’t just about getting rid of dust and cobwebs. It’s also a chance to declutter your home and get rid of things you no longer need or use. Simplifying and organizing your space will help give you a fresh perspective and feel more focused and relaxed.
3. Embrace new beginnings.
Use the concept of rebirth to reinvent yourself, start something new, or bring out a part of yourself that you’ve neglected. Take an art class, join a book club, start therapy, or travel somewhere new.

Wheel Pose
(Urdhva Dhanurasana)
Wheel pose is part inversion and part backbend. Inversions help improve circulation, pumping fresh blood and oxygen to the brain. Inversions also allow us to flip our vantage point, giving us a fresh perspective. Back bending energizes and revitalizes us. To practice wheel pose, come into a supine position with your knees bent. Lift your glutes and lower back off of the ground, coming into bridge pose. From here, place your hands at either side of your ears with your fingertips pointing towards your feet. Start to press weight into your palms as you gently and gradually lift your middle back, shoulders, neck, and head off of the ground. Come out of the pose just as carefully as you came in.

Inhalation in Steps
(Anuloma Krama)
Anuloma Krama is a pranayama (yogic breathing) exercise that helps revitalize us, improves lung capacity, and reduces stress. You can imagine filling a cup with water as you breathe. Breathe in through your nose, stopping about halfway into the inhale. Pause for a few seconds. Then, inhale all the way. Pause for a few seconds. Exhale completely and fully through your nose or your mouth. Repeat 4-8 times. You may also choose to divide the inhale into three steps. Practicing breathing exercises like Anuloma Krama can support stress management and promote emotional resilience.
