Anxiety has a way of making everything feel urgent, catastrophic, and personal. Instead of trying to “get rid of it,” try getting curious about it. When you slow your thoughts down into questions, you shift from reacting to responding. You move from spiraling to problem-solving. From fear to perspective.
.
Save this for the next time your mind starts racing.

There is a Zen proverb that goes something like this: “If you don’t have time to meditate for an hour everyday, you should meditate for two hours.” The busier life gets, the more beneficial mindfulness becomes. It helps us slow down, reset, and stay grounded amid the chaos. Even just a minute or two can make a difference; it’s not about the length, but the practice of coming back to yourself. Start small. Your mind and body will thank you.

Half-smiling and willing hands is a technique from Dialectical Behavior Therapy that helps soften judgment and resistance. The body and mind are deeply connected, so when we shift our posture or facial expression, even subtly, it impacts our emotional state. This practice isn’t about forcing positivity or pretending everything is okay. It’s about signaling openness and willingness, especially when judgment or tension shows up.

I love this poem. We know how to stand in front of a tree and let it be exactly what it is. Somewhere along the way, we forget how to offer that same kindness to ourselves and to other people. The judging mind steps in and suddenly everything needs to be different.
.
This month’s newsletter is all about nonjudgment. How to notice when the inner commentary takes over, and how to soften it, even just a little. If you want more reflections like this, plus simple practices you can actually use, you can sign up through the link in our bio.
