What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy modality that helps people heal from trauma, PTSD, and overwhelming life experiences. EMDR uses guided eye movements and other bilateral stimulation techniques to help your brain reprocess painful memories in a safe and supportive way. A lot of people who are used to taking care of everyone else  don’t allow space to receive support from others. Maybe they convince themselves it’s “not that bad,” it may feel like a burden to others, or that they can’t trust others to show up for them. 

This is the truth:
You don’t have to hit rock bottom to need and deserve support or rest.
You can’t be there for everyone all the time.

You were never meant to operate at full capacity 24/7. Perfectionism convinces you that anything less than 100% is failure… but most of the time, it’s actually balance. Also, we hold ourselves to an unreasonably high standard, so giving 80% instead of 100% probably won't even be noticeable to others. How can you scale back from 100% effort to 80% effort?
